Zara Home Review: Décor, Bedding, Delivery and Returns

The UK range includes cotton percale, sateen, washed linen, duvets, cushion inserts, vases, rugs, lighting and substantial furniture. The visual consistency makes coordination easier. It can also make products at very different prices seem interchangeable, while the practical differences sit in a dropdown.

We reviewed official Zara Home UK category pages and current Zara UK help used for Home orders. We did not sleep in, wash, handle or durability-test the sampled textiles and décor. Product composition and dimensions should be confirmed on the exact live item.

Percale, sateen and linen: choose the feel, not the hierarchy

Percale is a plain weave typically associated with a crisp, matte feel. Sateen uses a different weave that often feels smoother and looks more lustrous. Washed linen has visible texture, softens through use and creases as part of its character. None is universally better.

Warm sleepers may prefer breathable, crisp bedding, while someone who values a smoother surface may choose sateen. Linen can be durable, but weave, yarn and care still matter. Thread count is useful only within context; an inflated number does not establish fibre length, finishing or comfort.

Order one uncertain texture before replacing a whole set. Wash according to the label and judge against the household’s laundering routine. A fabric requiring special care may have poor cost per use even if it feels luxurious on day one.

Measure the mattress and duvet in centimetres

Names such as double, king and super king can conceal regional or manufacturer differences. Measure the mattress width, length and depth, including toppers. Zara Home labels sampled fitted sheets as suitable for mattresses up to 30cm deep, but elastic and shrinkage still influence fit.

Measure the existing duvet rather than assume its name. Confirm pillowcase dimensions and quantity. Product-family pages may list pillowcases separately, so the attractive duvet-cover price may not represent a complete bed. Build a basket with every case, insert and protector needed.

Washable shrinkage, tumble-drying guidance and ironing preference matter. If the fit is already tight before washing, the correct care process may still disappoint. Keep packaging until the labels and sizes have been checked.

Fillings, warmth and allergy considerations

Zara Home lists natural and synthetic duvet fillings across different warmth levels. Compare the exact fill composition, casing, care label and dimensions rather than treating a larger TOG number as a quality score. TOG indicates thermal insulation, not quality or weight alone.

Choose for bedroom temperature, sleeper and season. A four-seasons product can be flexible but requires storage and attachment management. Down and feather need appropriate care and may not suit every allergy preference. Synthetic fillings can be easier to wash but vary in cover and loft.

Check filling percentages carefully: “feather touch” is not feather, and a 90% down duvet differs from a 90% feather pillow. Confirm laundering capacity because a domestic machine may not safely wash a large duvet.

Décor and vases: decorative may not mean watertight

Similar vase names can cover very different materials, finishes and dimensions. Record the exact reference, height, opening and base, and confirm whether the description permits water use before putting fresh flowers inside.

Check whether the description approves water use. A decorative terracotta or rough ceramic piece may require an inner vessel or protective surface. Heavy pots need a stable base and safe lifting plan. Colour and glaze vary under room light, so compare with the intended shelf rather than an isolated screen image.

Furniture: delivery and access can dominate the price

The furniture range includes stools, chairs, desks and storage at materially different sizes and price levels. Large-product fulfilment can use a different delivery route from textiles and small décor, so confirm the postcode quote, package count and return method on the exact item.

Measure product, package, doors, stair turns and final clearance. Determine whether delivery is doorstep or room of choice and whether assembly or packaging removal is included. Delivery: use checkout for the real method and cost

Zara’s help system displays available shipping methods, costs and dates during purchase. The combination depends on item, address and size. Large Home items can require a separate carrier and fee, while a mixed order may arrive in several parcels.

Do not add a decorative item solely to chase a threshold unless it costs less than the delivery avoided and is genuinely needed. Save the promised date and inspect fragile ceramics on arrival. Report missing pieces or breakage promptly with packaging photographs.

Returns: 30 days from dispatch, with route-specific costs

The current UK help page states that online returns must be managed within 30 days from the shipping date, not the day the buyer finally opens the parcel. Items must remain in original condition with labels and return in the same market or region.

Eligible Home items can be returned free to Zara Home stores. A drop-point return costs £2.95, deducted from the refund. The help flow says a buyer with a large Home item will be asked to contact support for a home return. Confirm the collection fee and packaging before ordering bulky furniture.

Sales and price comparison

Sale stock can change by size and colour, making a headline range irrelevant to the actual room. Record the exact reference, previous price, current price and full-set cost on the day of purchase rather than relying on an expired example.

Our verdict

Zara Home is most convincing when its strong visual edit is translated into a precise textile or décor specification. Percale, linen and distinctive ceramics offer meaningful choice, but the best-looking product is not automatically the best fit. Full-set cost, care, delivery and returns complete the decision.
