On 30 August 2026 New Look’s official UK navigation was actively presenting new-season, workwear and fit-led ranges, plus promotional entry points such as basics from £7.99, tops at £10 and under, dresses at £30 and under and an up-to-60%-off sale route. Those are current catalogue signposts, not promises that a suitable item is stocked or that the reduction applies to the needed size and colour.

Open the exact product page and record the ordinary price, displayed reduction, seller, size stock, composition and return status together. “Jeans” is too broad a comparison: stretch content, rise, leg shape, length and construction can differ while prices look close. Sizing: use the chart as a start, not a guarantee

Letter sizes, numbered sizes and fit labels are not interchangeable measurements. Start with the category chart, then read the model information, cut description, rise, inseam and fabric stretch on the exact product. A size that works in a rigid wide-leg jean may not translate to a high-stretch skinny style or a tailored woven dress.

Measure in the underwear and layers likely to be worn, keep the tape level and compare the larger relevant measurement when between sizes. Petite, tall, maternity and curves lines should be assessed as different blocks rather than scaled versions of a core item. Product-level stock can be narrower than the category promise. Do not order three speculative sizes merely because returns exist; shortlist the cut, compare measurements and order the most plausible option or use a store fitting room where practical.

Wide fit and extra wide fit footwear

The official footwear guide states that women’s online sizes run from 3 to 9, with sizes 3 to 8 in stores. It distinguishes standard, standard with extra calf room, wide fit and extra wide fit. Wide and extra-wide options add room across the widest part of the foot while keeping the length aligned with standard sizing; wide-fit boots also increase calf room.

“Wide fit” is not a universal width shared across brands. Measure both feet for length and circumference at the widest point, and measure both calves while standing for boots. Use the larger measurement. Foot shape, toe box, upper stiffness, fastening and socks still affect comfort. Shoes should be tried indoors on a clean surface; outdoor wear and marked soles can remove the ordinary return option.

Materials and quality: read beyond the silhouette

Product names such as “cotton rich”, “satin” or “denim look” describe only part of the construction. Read the full main, lining and trim composition, then connect it to the intended use. A rigid 100% cotton jean may soften and shape with wear but behaves differently from a stretch blend. A polyester satin blouse can deliver the visual effect without the breathability or fibre properties a shopper may associate with silk.

Inspect seam alignment, pocket attachment, zip movement, button security, pattern matching and fabric recovery before removing tags. Photograph a fault and stop wearing or washing the item if a remedy may be needed. Delivery and the £19.99 Delivery Pass

The delivery page updated 31 March 2026 listed standard delivery at £2.99, normally three to five working days, with free standard delivery from £50 of eligible full-price or promotional items excluding sale. Express was £3.99 for a stated two-working-day service where available, and next-day delivery was £5.99 subject to cut-offs, postcode restrictions, Sundays and bank holidays. The checkout date remains the decision point.

The terms listed a £19.99 Delivery Pass valid for 12 months, covering available standard, next-day, BFPO, Channel Islands and Click & Collect options for qualifying online orders, with stated exclusions. It does not automatically renew. At ordinary prices, seven £2.99 standard deliveries total £20.93, four £5.99 next-day deliveries total £23.96, and five £3.99 express deliveries total £19.95. Those are arithmetic thresholds, not reasons to order more.

Returns, refunds and high-return warnings

The returns policy updated 10 February 2026 described a 28-day window for ordinary items in unworn, original condition with a valid order number or receipt. Online sale items use the statutory sequence described by the retailer: notify within 14 days and return within a further 14 days. Store returns are free for eligible goods; paid InPost and Evri routes are available. Keep proof until the refund arrives.

Hygiene and product exclusions apply. Pierced jewellery, cosmetics, fragrance, swimwear and underwear have conditions tied to seals, strips and packaging. A genuine fault or misdescription is different from a change of mind; see the UK returns and refunds guide.

New Look also says continued high return rates may lead to warnings and eventually paused or stopped online ordering. The public wording does not give an individual threshold. The practical response is not to guess one, but to reduce avoidable returns through measurement, product evidence and a smaller shortlist. Promotions can alter partial refunds because discounts may be apportioned across qualifying items.

Our verdict

New Look is a practical high-street option for broad, accessible fashion and structured footwear fit choices, but the product page—not the retailer name—must earn the purchase. Its Delivery Pass can work for a genuine repeat-order pattern, yet store access and free-threshold orders can make the subscription unnecessary.

Measure first, record the dated basket, inspect before removing tags and return promptly with proof. The best result is not the largest haul or easiest return; it is the smallest set of items that fit, survive normal care and will be worn enough to justify their cost.
