Promotions: exclusions decide the real saving

On the day of research, Cult Beauty advertised 20% off an eligible basket with code SMOOV, ending at 11:59pm on 15 August 2026. It excluded a long list of brands and new products. Because that offer ends before this review’s scheduled publication, it is evidence of how promotions work—not a code readers should expect to use later.

A separate SPIN15 page advertised 15% off a £25 spend until 30 September 2026, again with brand, new-launch, sale and manual-product exclusions and no combination with another offer. It must be checked again on publication day. A code shown on a landing page is not a basket saving until the exact item, shade and size accept it.

Free gifts and beauty edits

Gift-with-purchase offers can be attractive when the qualifying basket already exists. The current voucher list includes brand-specific spend thresholds and while-stocks-last conditions. Some gifts require high spending, exclude other offers or must be returned if the qualifying order is returned.

Value each gift at what you would willingly pay, often zero. A miniature may be genuinely useful for travel or tolerance testing; a product outside the routine is not a saving. Beauty edits can offer better sampling economics, but check product sizes, expiry after opening and whether the contents duplicate what you own.

Cult Status loyalty: calculate the reward properly

Cult Status is linked to a Cult Beauty account. Current terms say UK members enter after spending £100 or earning 100 Status Points, earn one point per £1 excluding shipping, and receive £5 credit for each 100 points. Points are added after dispatch and removed after a refunded purchase. UK and international-site balances are separate.

Points are valid for 12 months, while converted account credit currently expires after 30 days. That short conversion window matters: convert only when a planned purchase is ready. Gold members receive free next-day delivery on qualifying UK orders over £30, while all UK customers currently receive free standard delivery over £30.

The programme also awards 10 points for a verified product review submitted through the review-request email, capped at 10 rewarded reviews per month. This is a disclosed review incentive and does not automatically make the content false, but readers should recognise the context. UK delivery options and thresholds

The current main delivery page lists standard delivery at £3.95, free over £30, normally taking two to three days. Next-day delivery is £5.95, free over £100, with different benefits for higher Cult Status levels; the cut-off displayed is 1am. Same-day delivery at £9.95 is limited to selected postcodes and requires an order before 1pm. Click & Collect is £3.95, with next-day collection priced separately and availability determined at checkout.

Cult Beauty also maintains postcode exclusions for next-day service. Bank holidays, busy periods, restricted products and location can change availability. Trust the final checkout service for the delivery address, not a generic header. If timing matters, save the order confirmation and do not schedule a gift around an unverified estimate.

Returns: beauty hygiene changes the decision

Cult Beauty says unwanted items must be received back within 30 days and remain in pristine, saleable condition: unopened, in original packaging and with hygiene seals untouched. The current UK portal price for an unwanted return is £2.99. If an order qualified for a free gift, the gift must also be returned before the refund or replacement can be processed.

Inspect shade name, size, seal, expiry information and physical condition before opening. Once a pump has been used, a seal broken or packaging marked, a change-of-mind return may no longer be possible. The site says refund processing can take three to five working days after receipt, with payment-provider timing added afterwards. Klarna invoices are adjusted after Cult Beauty processes the return. Do not treat a pending refund as available budget.
