ASOS review UK: sizing, brands, Premier Delivery and returns

ASOS is strongest for comparing fit, fabric and seller details across a broad range, but delivery and return routes can vary by item.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Excellent range and useful fit information, but inspect each product and fulfilment route

ASOS is a useful UK fashion destination for shoppers who want own-label ranges, hundreds of partner brands and filters across fit categories. Product pages can provide model measurements, material composition, customer reviews and Fit Assistant. Before paying, confirm who sells and ships each item, the live delivery promise, exact return route and whether a promotional price exists in the required size.

This review evaluates the shopping decision rather than awarding points for the longest brand list. ASOS can make discovery fast, but variety also increases the chance of comparing unlike fits, fabrics and fulfilment arrangements. A good order begins with a short brief and ends with a basket-level check.

ASOS says it combines its own labels with hundreds of partner brands. Its corporate site reported 17 million active customers and described own-brand and partner-brand activity as 40% and 60% of FY2025 gross merchandise value respectively. Those figures show the importance of both routes; they do not mean every product, country or shopper receives the same selection or service.

ASOS review verdict at a glance

Area What works well What needs checking
Range Own labels, large third-party brand selection and multiple fit edits Seller, shipping warehouse, composition and exact variant can differ
Sizing Model measurements, own-brand charts, reviews and Fit Assistant on eligible items Partner brands do not share one measurement standard
Delivery Standard, next-day and other options depending on address and basket Cut-offs, postcode restrictions and partner-fulfilled items alter availability
Returns 28-day window and free trackable UK returns for qualifying orders Original condition, exclusions, fair-use rules and separate partner route
Value Frequent price changes and one basket for many brands Sale depth is irrelevant when the right size, fabric or seller route is unsuitable

Who is ASOS best for?

ASOS suits shoppers who want to compare contemporary clothing, footwear, accessories and beauty across a broad price range without opening a different retailer for every brand. It is particularly useful when Petite, Tall, Curve or Maternity filters narrow an otherwise unmanageable search. Own labels such as ASOS DESIGN sit alongside brands including Topshop and partner labels.

It is less suitable for someone who needs in-person fitting, fabric handling or alterations before purchase. It can also be a poor route for urgent mixed baskets when some products are sold and shipped by Brand Partners. For a more disciplined search, use our shortlisting guide and keep three candidates rather than adding ten speculative sizes.

ASOS brands: understand own label, partner brand and fulfilment

Do not treat “available on ASOS” as one supply model. The site carries ASOS-created labels, stock from third-party brands held and shipped by ASOS, and products sold and shipped by Brand Partners. The product page and checkout should identify the route.

ASOS explains that a product marked “Sold and Shipped by [Brand Name]” is handled directly by the Brand Partner. Only Standard Delivery may be offered, Premier Delivery does not apply to that parcel and postcode restrictions can differ. A product marked as sold by a partner but shipped by ASOS can use ASOS delivery services, subject to the live basket. Mixed orders may arrive in several parcels.

Product route Delivery implication Return implication
ASOS item, shipped by ASOS Eligible ASOS options shown for the address and cut-off Create the return through the ASOS account route
Partner item, shipped by ASOS ASOS services can be available; parcel may still arrive separately Follow the order’s ASOS instructions and keep proof
Sold and shipped by Brand Partner Standard Delivery only according to ASOS guidance; Premier delivery benefit excluded Return directly to the partner using the supplied or online partner route

The distinction matters most when one item is urgent or likely to be returned. Screenshot or save the seller and shipping details with the order confirmation. Sending a partner return to the ASOS warehouse can delay the refund.

How reliable is ASOS sizing information?

No multi-brand retailer can make one UK size mean the same thing across every label. ASOS’s own womenswear chart relates specifically to its own-brand clothing and lists body measurements from UK 4 to 26; the page warns that other brands can vary. Start with body measurements rather than the size most often bought elsewhere.

ASOS recommends three evidence layers. First, read the model’s height and displayed size. Second, open the Size Guide and Product Details for body measurements, international conversion, stated fit and fabric. Third, consider customer fit feedback and Fit Assistant where available. Fit Assistant uses height, weight, preference and order history and is not offered for every product.

These signals reduce uncertainty; none guarantees fit. “Oversized” describes an intended cut, not permission to ignore garment dimensions, and elastane percentage alone does not reveal waistband or seam comfort. Our clothing sizing guide explains how to measure, while fabric composition labels helps interpret the material panel.

A five-minute product-page check before ordering

  1. Copy the product code. It prevents confusion when similar names or colourways are open.
  2. Confirm seller and shipper. This determines parcel, delivery and return handling.
  3. For each ASOS finalist, inspect the stated cut, model measurements and product-specific size information. Record model height and size, stated cut, body chart and available reviews.
  4. Inspect composition and care. Translate every percentage into realistic warmth, stretch and laundering.
  5. Check exact size stock and basket price. A search result may preserve a promotion after the useful size disappears.

Pay particular attention to seam finish, closures, lining and fabric weight visible in close photographs. Our guide to judging clothing quality online provides a structured image check. Then read the care-label guide before assuming an inexpensive item will be easy to maintain.

Current ASOS UK price snapshot

The following official product listings were checked on 18 August 2026. They illustrate the spread of own-label and partner-brand prices and why product code, material and fit matter. They are not “best buys”, and the sale price may not remain available in the required size.

Exact listing checked 18 August 2026 Displayed price Decision detail
ASOS DESIGN trench coat in black, product 207268773 £42, shown reduced from £70 Use the exact product page to confirm material, care, fit and size stock
ASOS DESIGN soft longline trench coat in black £37.99, shown reduced from £50 Compare length, structure and composition rather than treating every trench as equivalent
ASOS DESIGN short trench coat with pleat detail in stone £16.99, shown reduced from £55 A deep reduction does not establish fit, fabric quality or availability in the required size

Price note: Prices, stock, size availability, seller and promotions can change quickly. Recheck the exact code and final basket on publication and purchase day. A crossed-out price is not evidence that the fabric, fit or complete transaction is good value.

ASOS UK delivery costs and Premier

ASOS’s UK delivery guidance listed Standard Delivery at £4.50, free for orders over £40 or with Premier, with a stated 3–5 working-day timeframe for most addresses. Next Day Delivery was £5.95, or included with Premier on eligible post-discount orders over £15. Cut-off, address, busy periods and outer-area rules can alter the options shown.

ASOS Premier was listed at £9.95 for one year. It included eligible next-day and nominated-day delivery above the stated £15 post-discount threshold and Standard Delivery without a minimum. Some postcode exclusions apply, and partner-fulfilled parcels do not receive Premier Delivery. Premier can renew automatically if that option was accepted.

Service checked 18 August 2026 Headline term What to verify in the basket
Standard £4.50; free over £40 or with Premier Address, outer-area timeframe, parcel origin and current threshold
Next Day £5.95; eligible Premier orders over £15 Cut-off, postcode, public holiday and item eligibility
Premier £9.95 for one year Expected eligible orders, renewal setting and partner exclusions

Is ASOS Premier worth it?

Compare Premier with delivery costs you would otherwise pay, not the number of orders you hope to make. At £9.95, it costs less than two £5.95 next-day charges, but this simple break-even fails if orders fall below the threshold, the postcode is excluded or chosen items are partner-fulfilled. Free Standard Delivery over £40 also reduces the saving for larger, infrequent baskets.

Premier should not encourage smaller speculative orders or higher returns. ASOS states that shoppers with a return rate of 70% or higher across three or more orders cannot buy or renew Premier. Treat the subscription as a logistics tool for planned purchases, not a reason to browse more often.

ASOS returns: 28 days, original condition and fair use

ASOS’s UK guidance gives shoppers 28 days from delivery or availability for collection to place and send an unwanted return. Returns are free and trackable for qualifying account orders, subject to Original Condition and Fair Use policies; guest orders use a £3.95 returns fee. The route is paperless for ASOS-handled orders, and proof of drop-off should be retained. ASOS says processing can take up to 10 calendar days after the parcel reaches it, followed by up to 10 working days for the bank to complete the refund.

Original condition matters. Tags and labels should remain attached; footwear should be tried on carefully and returned with its original box where supplied. Opened or used Face + Body products, underwear or swimwear with broken hygiene seals and pierced jewellery with a broken seal are among the exclusions described by ASOS. ASOS preference-return exclusions should not be confused with the consumer remedies that may apply to a faulty or incorrectly described order.

Partner-fulfilled goods may need to go directly to the partner. ASOS says qualifying partner returns are free but follow the label or portal provided for that brand. Do not combine parcels merely because the products appeared in one basket.

Understand the current fair-use fee

ASOS says most shoppers keep free returns, but its 2026 Fair Use Policy can retain £3.95 per returned parcel for some high-return accounts. For shoppers without Premier, the policy describes thresholds including a return rate of 70% or higher across at least three orders, unless more than £40 of the order is kept; at 80% or higher across at least five orders it can also add a separate £3.95 handling fee to future orders. Exact account treatment is shown through notifications and checkout.

For active Premier members, the guidance says a return rate above 70% across at least three orders blocks purchase or renewal and may trigger the return deduction while existing benefits continue. Faulty and incorrect items are excluded from the return-rate calculation when the proper reason is selected. These are condensed points from a detailed policy, so read the current account notice and full terms rather than using this paragraph as the final authority.

How to reduce sizing returns without accepting poor fit

Measure once and save the numbers with the date. Compare them to each brand, check fabric stretch and intended ease, and read whether the model size is consistent with the look you want. Avoid ordering several sizes automatically. Where uncertainty remains, choose the best-supported size and assess it at home with the intended underlayer and shoes.

Try items carefully, indoors and without removing tags. Do not wear perfume or make-up that could mark a return. Photograph a fault or incorrect product promptly and select the accurate return reason. Better preparation reduces administrative waste without weakening the right to reject something that genuinely does not fit.

Quality and sustainability: judge the item, not the retailer banner

ASOS carries many brands, price points and constructions, so a single quality verdict would be misleading. Check each item’s material, lining, seam appearance, closures and care. A discounted acrylic cardigan and a structured partner-brand coat should not inherit one score merely because they share a checkout.

Likewise, broad environmental language does not establish durability or supply-chain performance. Use our guide to sustainable fashion claims to identify evidence behind a statement, then apply cost per wear conservatively. Keeping a well-chosen garment in rotation matters more than winning a large promotional percentage.

Common mistakes when ordering from ASOS

Assuming every item is fulfilled by ASOS. Seller and shipper affect delivery, Premier and returns.

Using one size across all brands. Read the brand chart and product-specific fit evidence.

Buying the discount rather than the garment. Check exact size stock, composition and likely outfits at the current price.

Discarding packaging immediately. Keep tags, shoe boxes and proof of postage until the fit and refund are settled.

Expecting Premier to cover everything. Minimum spend, postcode and partner fulfilment can remove the desired benefit.

CHOOSE ASOS

Range and fit filters reduce search time

The exact item has useful measurements, material detail, a clear seller and fulfilment route, and delivery and returns work for the basket.

CHOOSE A MORE FOCUSED RETAILER

Consistency matters more than breadth

A narrower shop may be easier when you want one brand, in-store advice or a simpler delivery and return journey across the whole order.

Balanced verdict: is ASOS good?

ASOS is a strong UK option for broad fashion discovery, own-label fit ranges and multi-brand comparison, provided the shopper treats each product page as a separate evidence set. Sizing tools, model information and material panels can support a careful decision, while Standard, Next Day and Premier offer useful delivery choices for eligible baskets.

The limitations are equally clear. Fit is not standardised, a mixed basket can involve several parcels and return routes, and guest or fair-use fees make repeated speculative ordering a poor strategy. ASOS is best used with measurements, a written shortlist and attention to the seller and shipper. The broader ASOS versus Zalando UK comparison covers supporting buying methods. Use that retailer comparison to assess the same garment brief and return exposure, rather than equating catalogue breadth with a better purchase.

If standard garment lengths are the main fit problem, compare specialist ranges using our Best UK online clothing shops for tall ranges: sizing, filters and returns.

Frequently asked questions

Does ASOS offer free delivery in the UK?

ASOS listed Standard Delivery as free above £40 or with Premier when checked on 18 August 2026. Other services, cut-offs, postcodes and partner-fulfilled items have separate conditions. The live basket is the final check.

How long do I have to return an ASOS order?

The stated UK window is 28 days from delivery or availability for collection to place and send the return. Original Condition, Fair Use and product-specific exclusions apply. Partner-fulfilled items can use a different direct return route.

Are ASOS returns free?

Returns are free and trackable for qualifying UK orders, but ASOS’s Fair Use Policy can apply a £3.95 deduction to some high-return accounts and an additional handling fee in defined circumstances. Your account and return flow should show any applicable fee.

What is ASOS Premier and how much does it cost?

Premier was listed at £9.95 for a year, with eligible next-day and nominated-day delivery above a £15 post-discount spend plus Standard Delivery without a minimum. Postcode, product and partner-fulfilment exclusions apply.

Do ASOS sizes run small or large?

There is no single answer across ASOS and hundreds of partner brands. Check the relevant brand chart, model height and size, stated fit, fabric and customer fit feedback. ASOS’s main chart specifically relates to its own-brand clothing.

Can ASOS Brand Partner items arrive separately?

Yes — ASOS says items can come from different warehouses or directly from Brand Partners and may arrive in separate parcels. The checkout should show expected delivery for each parcel and whether ASOS Premier applies.

How we researched this ASOS review

Recommended Today reviewed ASOS’s official UK pages for delivery and Premier, UK returns, Fair Use, sizing help, Brand Partner fulfilment, one exact trench listing and the current trench-coat category. We also checked ASOS plc’s current business description. Facts and prices were recorded on 18 August 2026. No order was placed and no garment, delivery or customer-support interaction was hands-on tested.

Limitations

Prices, stock, size availability, cut-offs, promotions and account-specific fees can change. Delivery depends on address, basket and shipper. This review explains publicly documented UK terms and a repeatable buying method; it does not predict individual fit, parcel performance or product durability.

Confirm the exact seller, shipper, size, composition, account notice and final checkout before ordering. The ASOS sources were linked to substantiate the review, without affiliate tracking when the research was recorded.
