Ebuyer Review: Computers, Components, Delivery and Business Buying

The shop covers laptops, desktops, PC components, monitors, peripherals, networking, televisions and smart technology. That breadth helps people who already know the workload they need to support. It is less useful when labels such as “gaming”, “creator” or “AI PC” replace a measurable brief. A £900 laptop and a £3,000 laptop can sit in the same category while serving very different users.

We reviewed official Ebuyer listings and current help pages. We did not buy, build or benchmark a computer, use its business service or test customer support. Performance comments below are buying guidance based on disclosed specifications, not hands-on findings.

What changed at Ebuyer, and why it matters

The current footer identifies EBYR (Investco) Limited as trading as Ebuyer. Its returns help page separately directs customers with purchases made before 11 August 2025 to an administration contact. For a new order, use the current checkout, confirmation and help pages rather than assuming that an older Ebuyer review still describes the contract.

This is not a reason to reject the shop. It is a reason to retain evidence: product page, seller, model code, promised dispatch date, payment record and current terms. How to compare computers without buying the wrong variant

Processor and graphics

Start with software and target performance. Office work, web development, photo editing, CAD and competitive gaming have different constraints. A faster graphics processor can be valuable for gaming or rendering, but laptop performance also depends on its configured power and cooling. The same GPU name does not guarantee the same sustained result in two chassis.

Memory and storage

Sixteen gigabytes is common in the sampled laptops, yet soldered memory and two replaceable modules are different ownership propositions. Check populated slots, maximum supported memory and whether opening the base affects warranty procedures. For storage, record usable capacity, spare M.2 slots and cloud or backup cost. Display, ports and everyday fit

Resolution and refresh rate are incomplete. Look for brightness, colour coverage, response behaviour, panel coating and variable-refresh support from the manufacturer specification. Count the ports needed at the desk, including charging, external monitors and fast storage. Add a dock, charger or adapter to the basket if the included arrangement is insufficient.

Components: compatibility is part of the price

For a graphics card, confirm physical length, height and slot thickness, power-supply capacity, connector requirements and case airflow. For memory, match DDR generation, speed support, capacity per module and motherboard limits. For an SSD, check interface, form factor, available lanes, heatsink clearance and whether the target system can use the advertised speed.

Do not open sealed components until the model and compatibility have been checked. A return caused by changing the brief is different from a genuinely faulty product. Keep serial numbers and photograph the parcel condition. Delivery costs and practical limits

Ebuyer’s current help centre lists standard delivery at £4.99 for three to seven days, express at £7.99 for 48 hours, next-day Evri at £9.99 and next-day DPD at £11.99. It says options depend on product and region and that checkout is the current source. Bank and public holidays are excluded. Once an order is submitted, the delivery choice and address generally cannot be changed and separate orders cannot be combined to remove duplicate charges.

That makes the delivered basket—not the card price—the comparable number. A £649 laptop with standard delivery is £653.99 before accessories. A component required for a weekend repair may justify tracked next-day service; an ordinary planned upgrade may not. Save the delivery promise because carrier availability and cutoff can vary.

Ebuyer returns: 28 days, but not free for a change of mind

The current online-return page says an unwanted item must be returned within 28 days, in resalable condition and original packaging, and that the customer pays from £4.99 per return. Online purchases cannot be returned to a store, including click-and-collect orders. Returns are inspected, and Ebuyer asks customers to allow 14 days after return for the refund.

That policy changes how cautiously to set up a laptop or component. Confirm the SKU, physical condition, screen and included items before installing software, removing protective material or mounting hardware. Keep internal bags, caps and inserts. Faulty or imperfect goods should be reported to customer service with clear evidence rather than treated as an ordinary unwanted return. Frasers Plus is finance, not a discount by default

Ebuyer advertises Frasers Plus with pay-in-three interest-free and longer instalments over six to 36 months. The site shows a representative 29.9% variable APR when paying over six months or longer, subject to status, and warns that missed payments may affect a credit score. Points or selected-product discounts should be valued separately from borrowing cost.

Record cash price, deposit, repayment count, APR and total repayable. If the financed basket costs more than paying cash elsewhere, points do not necessarily rescue it. Read our total-cost framework and discount guide before letting a monthly figure set the budget.

What business buyers should check

Ebuyer links to a separate business shop. Before using it, establish whether prices include VAT, who owns the account, available credit terms, delivery responsibility and the business return rules. Consumer cancellation protections do not automatically apply to a purchase made wholly for business purposes. A company should also record serial numbers, asset owner, warranty expiry, device encryption and the person authorised to raise a claim.

For multiple machines, consistency can be more valuable than a small unit saving. Confirm that every item has the same screen, network adapter, operating-system licence and warranty. Ask whether stock is allocated and whether a partial dispatch would disrupt deployment. Do not rely on an old trade-account PDF where the current checkout or written quotation differs.

Who should consider Ebuyer?

1. Copy the full SKU, not only the product family.
2. Verify processor, GPU power, RAM layout, storage and panel.
3. Add delivery and required accessories to the comparison.
4. Record the seller and fulfiller shown at checkout.
5. Read the current return route before setup or installation.
6. Compare finance by total repayable, not points or instalment size.

Our verdict

Ebuyer deserves a place on a UK computer shortlist when its detailed range produces the right exact machine or component at a strong delivered total. It is not automatically the safest or cheapest route. Paid change-of-mind returns, product-specific delivery and finance terms must be part of the decision, while compatibility evidence matters more than the promotional badge.
