Boohoo review UK: sizing, delivery, returns and product quality

Boohoo’s strongest advantage is browsing breadth

The site spans dresses, denim, tailoring, basics, occasionwear, active-inspired pieces and several group labels or concession arrangements. That breadth makes it possible to build a low-cost shortlist around a specific colour or trend. It also makes assumptions risky: two visually similar garments can differ substantially in fibre, lining, stretch, length and supplier.

Filter by size and category, then open each product independently. Avoid treating the first grid image as proof of opacity, thickness or fit. Use the shortlisting method to keep only items with a clear role, adequate evidence and an acceptable return route.

Sizing: use the chart as a body reference, not a garment promise

Boohoo’s official main-range chart currently lists body measurements across UK sizes 4 to 32. That is useful for orientation, but a body chart does not state how much ease a dress, jean or jacket includes. Oversized, bodycon, tall, petite, maternity and concession products can use different blocks or supplier conventions.

Measure bust, waist and hip in the way the current chart directs, then compare with fabric stretch and intended silhouette. For trousers, add rise, inside leg and thigh needs; for jackets, check shoulder, sleeve and layering room. Model height and displayed size help with proportion but cannot reveal the model’s full measurements, posture or styling adjustments. Clips, poses and editing can change apparent fit. Where a critical dimension is missing, treat the uncertainty as a cost rather than assuming the garment will adapt.

Product quality must be assessed listing by listing

Boohoo is not one fabric or factory. Polyester, cotton, viscose, elastane and mixed constructions behave differently, and the same fibre can be knitted or woven to different weights. Read the fabric-composition guide, then judge whether the material suits the garment: stretch recovery for bodycon pieces, lining and seam allowance for tailoring, and adequate weight for pale trousers or dresses.

On arrival, inspect in neutral light before removing tags. Check left-right symmetry, loose threads, skipped stitches, zip operation, button security, hem evenness, print alignment, lining and whether the garment recovers after ordinary fitting. “Product quality” cannot be inferred from price or brand reputation alone, and this review does not claim hands-on results.

Delivery: several routes, but postcode and cut-off control reality

At the check date, Boohoo’s official page listed UK standard delivery at £3.99, usually within four working days; express at £4.99 within three working days; next day at £5.99 subject to cut-off; and an InPost locker option at £2.99, with postcode qualifications. Northern Ireland and bulky-item terms differed. These are volatile facts and will be rechecked before purchase.

Do not buy solely because a timer suggests next-day eligibility. Confirm the exact address, item availability and checkout promise, then save it. A delivery estimate is not a guarantee against disruption. If an outfit is for an event, add time for fit, replacement and refund, not merely dispatch.

Premier-style delivery only pays when purchases remain intentional

Boohoo promotes a Premier delivery subscription on eligible options. Compare the current fee, term, exclusions, delivery methods and whether it auto-renews. Estimate planned qualifying orders rather than using past impulse orders to justify future access. Free delivery does not make unwanted garments costless when returns require time or fees.

Use the subscription and renewal checklist and record the renewal date. A membership can be good value for a household with deliberate repeat orders; it can also reduce the friction that normally prompts careful shortlisting.

Returns: understand the notification window and supplier route

Boohoo’s terms effective 8 May 2026 state that customers must notify the retailer of a return within 21 days of receiving the order, with earlier purchases retaining the previous period. The terms distinguish statutory cancellation and the commercial UK returns service and note that concession-brand items can follow a different route. Verify the current portal, fee, carrier, exclusions and final dispatch deadline for the exact order.

Keep tags attached and cosmetics away from garments while deciding. Create the return within the stated period, use the directed route, retain the QR code or label, parcel photograph and carrier receipt, and track the refund. Promotions and low prices need a basket-level value check

Compare the final payable price after code exclusions, delivery and potential return cost. A crossed-out figure or countdown does not establish typical value. Check whether two cheap items duplicate one stronger wardrobe role and whether care or opacity requires extra purchases. The cost-per-wear method should use realistic repeated wear, not the low entry price.

Environmental collections and material claims require precise scope. Does a percentage apply to the whole garment or one component? Is the claim about fibre, manufacturing or packaging? Use the green-claims checklist and avoid treating a collection name as a lifecycle assessment.

Balanced verdict

Boohoo’s value lies in breadth and immediacy, not a uniform promise of fit or construction. It can work well for shoppers who narrow the catalogue with measurements, material and occasion, then inspect quickly inside the return window. It is a weaker fit for buyers who need long deliberation, predictable brand-to-brand sizing or extensive durability evidence.
